Senator JV Ejercito will deliver a Kontra-SONA – or the Senate Minority Bloc’s response to President Benigno Aquino III’s State of the Nation Address – when the second regular session of the 16th Congress opens on July 28.

Ejercito says he got Senator Juan Ponce Enrile’s nod to deliver the speech when he visited the veteran lawmaker at Camp Crame.

He adds the counter-SONA will include Enrile’s take on the economy, particularly on job creation, and security issues in the West Philippine Sea.

Ejercito admits the opposition bloc is paralyzed with the absence of Enrile and Senator Bong Revilla who are jailed for plunder and graft charges over the pork scam.

Two other opposition senators are being linked to the controversy, namely Senators Gringo Honasan and Tito Sotto who is now acting senate minority leader.

Ejercito says even if they are a few members short the minority will continue to be the Senate’s fiscalizer when session resumes by the end of this month.

“Noon pa lang paralyzed na kami. Ngayon pilay na pilay talaga,” said Ejercito. – Solar News Online
