Terrorism is a worldwide problem. We should unite to flush out these terrorists instead of trying to pull down the leadership.
The video of the leaders of the Maute group planning their rebellion and takeover of Marawi City and make it the caliphate of ISIS, bolsters the decision of the President to declare martial law in Mindanao. The video, which I watched during the security briefing at the Senate, and which has now gone viral, proves that public safety requires that the military be given the powers to thwart this plan to occupy a portion of our territory. We need to act now to stop this terror threat before it spreads to other parts of the country. We need to put the security of our kababayan in Mindanao, of the Filipino people above and beyond selfish political interests.
