Hospital Visit
I visited the Dr. Jose P. Rizal Memorial District Hospital in Calamba Laguna to personally assess the situation and the actual needs of the patients.I was accompanied by Laguna Board Member Ruth Matiano Hernandez and some hospital officials in making the rounds in the hospital's different facilities.As chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, I assured the patients and the medical staff my all out support in upgrading the medical facilities and equipment of Dr. Jose P. Rizal Menorial District Hospital to ensure highest quality and accessible medical care for all.This is part of the Universal Health Care program which I am persistenly pushing in the Senate. Feeling fulfilled after speaking before the vibrant students and faculty of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro City during their “Student Economic Forum” where I shared with the participants our stringent legislative efforts to improve the living standards of all Filipinos through various measures.I explained with them the status of my advocacies on agriculture, affordable mass housing, free education, efficient mass and railway system and accessible Universal Healthcare program. REFORMS FOR THE AFP/PNP/BFP/BJMP HOUSING I am happy that the NHA, with HUDCC Chairman Ed Del Rosario and GM Escalada at the helm, is now implementing reforms based on my recommendations as well as what came out from our previous hearings regarding the controversies hounding the AFP/PNP housing projects. Now, the AFP/PNP/BJMP/BFP housing units are of bigger size like 40 square meters per unit and there are even 60 square meters.
