Action On Job Creation

1. WORK FOR APPROPRIATE MECHANISMS IN THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM TO ATTUNE COURSE OFFERINGS TO JOB MARKET NEEDS.

Review the curriculum of Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) to ensure its responsiveness to manpower demands of trade and industry.

A challenge in trade and industry is to match the courses taken in universities with the demands of the workplace. Hence, there is a need to review the curriculum offered by universities and colleges to make it relevant to the manpower needs of trade and industry. This could enable corporations to expand their operations and spur demand for workers. The competition to attract workers will drive up salaries and benefits. State incentives can be provided to private educational institutions which will implement defined priority courses.

2. BOOST TOURISM GROWTH BY ENCOURAGING INVESTMENTS THROUGH INNOVATIVE INCENTIVE PACKAGES.

Recognizing the need to improve the tourism industry by encouraging investments in systemic infrastructure development, government incentive packages should be competitively packaged to attract investors.

Create jobs in the tourism industry by investing in upgrades to infrastructure such as hotels and restaurants near tourist spots and improving airports and seaports. Through this program, more tourists are expected to come to the Philippines. The high demand in this industry will lead to the creation of employment opportunities that aid the operation of these business establishments. Furthermore, this will stimulate local businesses, particularly those in the handicrafts industry.

3. STRENGTHEN LEGISLATION TO SUPPORT THE INVESTMENT AND GROWTH OF THE AGRICULTURE SECTOR.

Stimulate the agriculture sector through a comprehensive program geared towards new technologies, infrastructure development and market access.

The agricultural sector of the country has a potential to drive economic growth. However, in order to develop it, investment must be poured into basic farming needs such as hand tractors and other farm implements, fertilizers and insecticides. Furthermore, farmers need to be introduced to new technologies that can aid in boosting production. It is likewise important to invest in infrastructure such as farm-to-market roads, community-run irrigation systems, rice and corn dryers, and warehousing facilities, in order to increase productivity.

4. ALIGN PANTAWID PAMILYANG PILIPINO PROGRAM ALLOCATIONS TOWARDS PROGRAMS THAT INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY & LEAD TO JOB CREATION AMONG THE POOR.

Reallocate a portion of the budget for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program to increase productivity through job creation and accessible education.

Recognizing the importance of empowering the poor, we see the need to reallocate the funding for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program to more sustainable government aid programs such as productivity, job creation, and accessible and affordable education. Thus, cash grants will only be given to those who are rendered unable or unfit to work by infirmities or old age.

5. SUPPORT LGU INITIATIVES THAT ENABLE PRODUCTIVITY & IMPROVE QUALITY OF LIFE WITHIN THE LOCAL COMMUNITIES.

Support local government unit initiatives that aim to increase productivity and uplift the lives of their constituents.

In order to address the issue of poverty, it is important for national government to provide support to local government units, especially in increasing productivity and creating livelihood opportunities for those within their jurisdiction. Ultimately, this contributes to the overarching goal of uplifting the living conditions of their constituents and the alleviation of poverty.
