PACMAN SHOULDN’T BE BLAMED FOR ‘CONTROVERSIAL’ DECISION
“Pacman shouldn’t be blamed over the judges’ controversial decision,” San Juan City Representative JV Ejercito said after watching the close fight together with City officials and residents yesterday at the San Juan Arena. “They are the experts in that sport. It’s their own call, and they are the best people to make that call.”
The lawmaker was among Manny Pacquiao’s friends and strong supporters who continued to celebrate his victory over the Mexican, despite the ‘controversial’ result.
Ejercito went on saying, “This fight may be different from the previous ones, which he won by overwhelming decisions. But it is still not Manny’s fault that he won. He is just human. Like any athlete, he has ‘off nights’ too. We cannot expect him to be a robot that can always knockout every opponent thrown at him.”
With regard to Marquez, the lawmaker said the man got the Filipinos’ respect. He said, “He is a good fighter. We admit that the fight was excruciatingly close.”
The lawmaker finally said Pacquaio still deserves to be honored for uplifting again the Filipino banner.
“Manny’s victories have brought so much pride and glory to the nation. Anyway, win or lose, we are proud to be his colleague at the House of Representatives,” he said.
